The AIRY pot is delivered with expanded clay as a drainage layer so that the plant is not in the water tank. With the AIRY box, this role is taken over by the mineral substrate "AIRY base" supplied.
The activated carbon in the AIRY pot is there to be mixed with soil during planting. In this case, the microorganisms in the root system have an ideal home for reproduction, because the activated carbon has an incredibly large surface, which is ideally suited for this purpose. The more microorganisms, the better and faster the pollutants are converted into nutrients. The disadvantage of activated carbon is that it is dirty.
In the AIRY box not only the expanded clay has been replaced, but also the activated carbon. Their role is now assumed by the zeolites in the mineral substrate.
